External Wall Insulation

If the outside walls of your home, development or building only have a single brick or block layer (otherwise known as solid wall construction), external wall insulation will simply revolutionise your property.

  • Saving hundreds of pounds on your heating bills

  • Keeping your home snug and warm

  • Improving its sound insulation

  • Making the exterior look as good as new

How external wall insulation will benefit your property?

Solid wall construction is quicker and cheaper for builders; however the trade-off is almost always greater heat loss than with cavity wall construction (two layers of brickwork with a gap between them). This makes solid walled properties colder, more expensive to heat, relatively environmentally unfriendly, more difficult to get planning permission for extensions on, and ultimately more difficult to sell (because EPC reports, that all home owners are now required by law to produce before a sale, show how thermally efficient a property is).

Who could benefit from external wall insulation?

So, if you are a home owner, a new home builder, a small building contractor, a facility manager or a local authority and you recognise these problems then external wall insulation is the solution.

1.  Our thorough survey of your property will determine its suitability for external wall insulation, and we’ll consult with you over process and preferences.

2.  All external building furniture – satellite dishes, trellises, vents, and so on – removed to protect them (to be re-fixed once work has been completed) and to give us the full surface area to work with.

3.  Insulation boards are fixed to the external wall of your property.

Adhesive coatings are applied.

4.  An external render is applied and decorated to your specifications.

Upon completion we will clean up and take all equipment away with us, then inspect the work to ensure that it meets our high standards.

It’s quick, it’s simple and it will make a world of difference to a property.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long will the work take? Only around 2-3 weeks, though, as with any external work, timing is weather dependent.

  • Will there be much disruption? No, not much, as everything happens outside, though a little drilling and mixing machine churning will be necessary.

  • Will my garden be damaged? Where plants, trees and trellises need to be moved or removed you will be informed and the utmost care is always taken.

  • What will it look like when finished? That’s up to you. We offer a wide variety of finishes so you can choose how the new external surface will look.

  • How long will it last for? All of our external wall insulation work is covered by a 10 year warranty. Extensions are purchasable, but the work is expected to last at least 30 years according to BBA and NSAI testing.

  • Can I fix things to the insulated walls? External wall insulation is not designed to be loadbearing, so all fixings must be carefully drilled into the original external wall for support.
